EU Law & Competition

The core of the firm. We advise and litigate across the whole field of EU economic law, from tender challenges before the General Court to State aid investigations and antitrust compliance.

EU law is not a subject we add to a Belgian practice; it is the practice. Our founding partner has argued more than 140 cases before the General Court and the Court of Justice, and the firm has shaped the case law on remedies available to unsuccessful tenderers, on the reviewability of decisions taken by EU bodies, and on the market economy operator test in State aid.

We represent clients before the European Commission, the EU agencies, the Belgian Competition Authority and the EU Courts in Luxembourg, and we work alongside in-house teams and national counsel across the Union.

How we help

  • A rapid assessment of your position and the remedies genuinely available, including deadlines that run from the day you learn of a decision.
  • Direct engagement with the institution concerned when a negotiated outcome is realistic.
  • Litigation before the General Court and Court of Justice conducted by counsel who has done it more than a hundred times.
  • Compliance advice that reflects how the Commission actually enforces, not only what the rules say.

Discuss your matter with a partner

Initial consultations are held at our Brussels office, by video call or by telephone, in English, French or Greek. Tell us briefly what is at stake and we will come back to you within one business day.
